It seems like that. See around. It's fashionable to be rude. It's great to wash your private linen in public. It's no more taboo to bad mouth. It's so damn nice if you know some good old bad words even better if you can invent some new ones yourself. It's so cool to insult a woman on national and international t.v. It's just good to be bad.
I wonder if good people will start feeling odd or maybe go into hibernation if badness is glorified enjoyed and appreciated. Its fair it sells and so its nice that everyone and anyone is lapping up the limelight. Specially the wolves and the coy little rabbits go burrow into your holes.
How nasty can you get? How loud can you scream? How cheap can you behave? How pretentious can you be? Its's time you get the brat in you out, its selling fast? You don't do it boy there are already dozens of them with their fighting horns ready. And mind it it's no more only about bad boys. It's girls aunties grandmas. They are all there men and women of all makes.
Where did it all begin? Where will all this end?
Remember they say in entertainment industry there's a season and a pattern. If action sells there are hundreds of copies made of it. If love stories sell same. If sex sells. It always does. Why would a classy potentially high grade actor do a ooh la la! It's dirty its good. And most importantly it sells.
There were always negative characters in films. The villain the bad guy. Then the good guys took over and started being bad. And all the good bad guys were actually out of work or took up jobs of comedians. The good guys do the bad job too. Get paid for both.
There's no conflict no drama no substance. Because there's no more any white or black or grey. There's just black.
See the plight of once a bad man. He gets knocked down by people half his age and quarter of his experience. You don't have to just rape a woman or do drug deals on screen to be villainous now. You have to actually be a villain. Simply plain bad. Good guys time to take a nap.

ReplyDeleteIt worries you that this badness trend is taking over but it simply is a transitional phase take alook at bollywood...remember how irritated we felt when nirupa roy exhorted her son or bahu to sacrifice in the name of goodness...die...or marry...or suffer insults and torture..for we were supposed to be good ...our psyche was purged with goodness!!!we were raised to be guilty if we did for our own pleasureanything.Iguess we good people now realise we can kick a torturing saas with words if not literally...give a sweltering swear to a harassing boss ,times are good our fathers lands are no longer with zamindars...or some evil poverty inducing force we can accept and be comfortable with badness and loud crudeness, very soon we shall learn to synthesize the fact that nirupa roys and a.k.hangals are extinct..we shall reclaim our dignity till then LETS ENJOY BEING BAD !!!!!! regards SONNAL
